Diagnosis Support System using Mobile Sensor Data and Artificial Intelligence

Supporting Early Learning of Computational Thinking Using Mixed Reality Technology

This project aims to provide an innovative mixed-reality environment that will combine a physically embodied humanoid robot and augmented reality (AR), where children in K-2 will engage in computational tasks embedded in their play with the robot. Through this hands-on experience, children will understand the concepts of sequences and symbols that are crosscutting and foundational to STEM literacy and problem solving. Also, grounded in embodied cognition and culturally responsive/sustainable pedagogy, this environment will invite every child equitably to AR-enhanced play with a robot playmate that is free from judgments and social biases, enabling children's positive affect about working with and on such cutting-edge technologies. Also, for this development research, advanced sensor technology will unobtrusively measure children's multimodal behaviors to assess children's learning and affect authentically

Mobile Health System to Support Disease Diagnosis using Walking Movements

The ultimate objective of this project is to develop a Disease Diagnosis Supporter System (D2S2) to support disease diagnosis using walking movements. Some diseases, such as mild Traumatic brain injury (mTBI), cognitive deficits, vision problems, Alzheimer's, are difficult to diagnose without medical equipment such as eye-link, MRI, CT, and force plate. Additionally, the patients don't receive proper treatments in time because these diseases generally don't present any visible or external wounds such as bleeding or fracture. So, it causes a second injury like accidental falls to patients as they lose body balance. So, the D2S2 can reduce such falls by sending real-time alerts to its users when they are out of balance Users also can self-diagnose their body balance by using the Disease Diagnosis Supporter (D2S) mobile application that we developed and avoid a possible second injury.

Tweeting about the Oscar-Winning Parasite: Intercultural Use of Country-of-Origin Frames

This research view Twitter engagement as electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM), statements by consumers about a product, service or company that become available to a wider array of people online. Specifically, the current study analyzes how tweets in English and Korean discussed Parasite's Oscars win through the theoretical framework of Country of Origin (COO) and frames. COO—the country of manufacture, production or growth affects whether individuals decide to accept certain goods or not (Dichter, 1962). Considering the apparent lack of cross-cultural elements in COO research despite the importance of cultures, values, and languages in COO effects, this study first compares the relative prevalence of Parasite's COO in English and Korean tweets. Second, we compare the relative popularity of the cognitive, affective, and normative frames related to COO effects in English and Korean tweets
