UNLV's Cybersecurity Center program has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE). Sponsored jointly by the National Security Administration (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the goal of the program is to reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cyber defense. UNLV received the designation for its IA program.

At CREATE Center, cross-disciplinary researchers study the design and development of cutting-edge technology for education. The CREATE team seeks to tackle real world educational problems and experiments with innovative approaches. We work closely with teachers, schools, and organizational partners to understand the problems and disseminate our research-based solutions.

We examine how people including pk-12, post-secondary, and adults learn in diverse contexts such as online, massive open online courses (MOOCs), social media, peer learning, STEM, Flipped classroom, or emerging technologies. In addition, we are interested in designing theory-based learning activity and transforming learning environments to enhance students' learning engagement and achievement.
